Cables have come a long way since it was first recognized that they have a large effect on how an audio system performs. We have heard about golden ratios, air/vacuum dielectrics, network boxes, exotic materials and many, many others.
Cable Technology Doesn't Matter?
With so much attention being placed on technology, it is little wonder that we are asked to explain ours. We respond with an explanation of why the answer will not make a difference. What? Not make a difference? How can that be true?
When a engineer sets out to design an audio cable, he/she must consider conductor material, strand count, strand gauge, total gauge, number of bundles, conductor geometries, conductor spacing, dielectric materials, dielectric thickness, shielding and many other characteristics.
The sound of the cable is due to the total “recipe,” and is dependent on all of the above factors, not one or two of them. So knowing, as an example, if a cable is copper or silver will not tell you how it sounds (no matter what pre-conceptions you have about either). To know its sound, you must listen.
What is OptimiZ™?
That said, we are pretty proud of our technology, even though we do not talk about it all that much. Our patented OptimiZ™ architecture is now proven in the market for over ten years. What is it?
OptimiZ™ architecture results in performance characteristics that are different from the typical cable in the marketplace. We talk about it to point out that we are doing something differently and are worth listening to. We let our cables do the rest.
What do we do differently? Lets take a look at a simple graph that plots capacitance on one axis and inductance on the other. What does it prove?
Honestly, nothing. Even though we are different, even though OptimiZ™ architecture resulted in something unlike any of the 32 competitive cables plotted, it does not prove we sound better. However, it does show we did something different.
Another case in point is our graph of characteristic impedance. Take a look at where our Emotion Cable plots. Can we say from this it sounds better?
It is quite different from the other cables, unique actually. Still, we cannot confuse different with better. But again, we did do something different.
Yet another real difference is our ability to pass nearly perfect square waves in spite of load changes at either or both ends of the cable. No other cable we tested did that. Why is that important?
The load presented to a cable from your CD player to your Pre-Amp is the output impedance of the CD player and the input impedance of the Pre-Amp. It means that the RevolutionZ™ family of cables will perform well and be true to the original signal no matter what the components are now or in the future. Is that different? Yes, for sure.
In fact, it turns out we are different in some very interesting ways! These differences may point to why we are told we sound like no other cable!
We hope that we have motivated you to listen to Kubala•Sosna to determine for yourself if our cables are right for you.
We are confident that like so many others, you will appreciate the way they help you Connect to the Performance™. In fact, we guarantee it!
